What does high potential and gifted education look like?
High potential and gifted education (HPGE) is how our school supports students with advanced learning needs.
We work closely with families and the wider community to nurture each student’s talent and regularly review our programs to ensure they continue to meet their needs.
We do this through:
- effective teaching strategies like enrichment, extension and acceleration
- tailored support during lessons that stretch, challenge and inspire
- access to a wide range of opportunities both within and beyond our school.

Our students engage with HPGE education in the classroom, in our school, and across NSW.
At Kurnell Public School, we tailor learning to meet each student’s needs in every classroom:
- We change the speed and difficulty of lessons to fit each student’s needs.
- We help students think deeply and solve problems with real-life and creative activities.
- Teachers check how students are doing and change lessons to help them learn better.
- Students can learn faster with advanced lessons if they are ready.
- Students work in groups to help each other and practice speaking in front of others.
- Our PE program helps students improve their body skills and take on leadership roles.
